CITY SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE: Patrickswell suffered defeat to Na Piarsaigh in the first match of the City Hurling League. Despite the stiff breeze against them, the ‘Well made a lively start. The Caherdavin men dominated the next ten minutes and Patrick Kirby’s solitary free point kept Patrickswell in touch at 0-9 to 1-2. Na Piarsaigh also controlled the latter stages of the first half to establish a 0-13 to 1-3 lead.

The wind eased off in the second half and diminished Patrickswell’s opportunity. Three points from Patrick Kirby and another from John Kirby reduced the deficit to 0-15 to 1-7 on 40 minutes.
