MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell face Knockaderry away on Wednesday August 21 at 7.15pm. The venue is to be decided.

UNDER 20 HURLERS: The U-20 hurlers commence their Championship campaign with a home fixture against ABK Desmonds on Sunday August 25

CAMOGIE: On Wednesday August 21, the Intermediate Championship match is a home tie versus Galbally at 7pm. On Friday August 23, the Junior 12-a-side championship game is away to Mungret at 7pm.

CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday August 12 was not won. The numbers drawn were 6, 17, 23 and 24. The bonus number was 3. SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior hurlers were defeated by a Doon surge in the final quarter of their Championship encounter. The match began at a frenetic pace as Doon took a 0-6 to 0-3 lead after ten minutes. Patrickswell’s points came through an Aaron Gillane brace and Jack Kelleher. The next ten minutes were equally intense as Patrickswell trimmed the deficit to 0-9 to 0-7 thanks to Patrick Kirby 0-2, Cian Lynch and Diarmaid Byrnes. Aaron Gillane’s next point edged Patrickswell closer, but Darragh Stapleton’s goal increased Doon’s lead to 1-9 to 0-8. The ‘Well were unfazed and scored three consecutive points from Cian Lynch, Evan Fitzgerald and Kevin O’Brien. Doon notched the final point of the first half to establish a 1-10 to 0-11 advantage.

At the start of the second half, Doon’s second goal and a point from Adam English surpassed points from Mark Carmody and Diarmaid Byrnes. Now trailing by four points, Patrickswell provided a perfect response. Within minutes, we had drawn level at 0-18 to 2-12 with thanks to Nigel Foley, Jason Gillane, Patrick Kirby and Diarmaid Byrnes 0-2. A grandstand finale in the last ten minutes was anticipated. Unfortunately, the East Men plundered two goals within a handful of minutes from Darragh O’Donovan and Chris Thomas. Doon were comfortably ahead at 4-13 to 0-19 ahead. The match closed with an exchange of points between Diarmaid Byrnes and Kevin Maher.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: Adam Carrig’s last minute penalty save secured a vital win for Patrickswell over Rathkeale. Against the breeze, the ‘Well fell 0-5 to 0-1 behind after ten minutes. Two more points from Calvin Carroll and a Liam Fitzgerald goal levelled matters at 1-3 to 0-6. Calvin Carroll cancelled out two Rathkeale points, before our opponents went 0-10 to 1-5 ahead just before the interval. While Kieran Long’s point moved Patrickswell within a single score, Rathkeale’s first goal was damaging. Calvin Carroll and Liam Fitzgerald scored more points to ensure a half-time score of 1-11 to 1-8 to Rathkeale.

The second half began positively as Liam Fitzgerald’s second goal and points from Calvin Carroll & Peter Harty reduced our deficit at 1-14 to 2-10. The pace of scoring had dipped, but Patrickswell were grateful for Seanie O’Brien claiming two points and Calvin Carroll another. The scoreline on 50 minutes was level at 2-13 to 1-16. Calvin and Christy Carroll put Patrickswell ahead by 2-15 to 1-16 in the 60th minute. In stoppage time, Rathkeale scored a point but Shane Hannon restored the two-point advantage. In the final passage of play, Rathkeale earned a penalty. Standing alone in his net, Adam Carrig saved the shot and Patrickswell cleared its lines. The final whistle blew and we claimed a 2-16 to 1-17 victory.

MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell suffered its first defeat of the season after a 1-16 to 0-12 reverse to neighbours Adare.

CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Tuesday August 6 was not won. The numbers drawn were 2, 14, 24 and 30. The bonus number was 25. The €50 Lucky Dips were won by T. SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior hurlers lost their Championship opener to holders Na Piarsaigh. Patrickswell made a bright start and led by 0-4 to 0-2 after ten minutes through Jack Kelleher 0-2, Diarmaid Byrnes and Cian Lynch. By the 20th minute, the advantage had been extended further to 0-8 to 0-5, thanks to Evan Fitzgerald, Aaron Gillane, Jack Kelleher and Diarmaid Byrnes. A trio of points from Aaron Gillane put Patrickswell in a strong position of 0-11 to 0-7 after 27 minutes. Na Piarsaigh were unbowed and notched four points in five minutes to reach the interval at 0-11 apiece.

Na Piarsaigh edged the opening phase of the second half and led by 0-15 to 0-13 in the 40th minute. After a full stretch save by Shane Dowling, Patrick Kirby was in the right place to fire home a goal.The Light Blues responded with three points and restored a 0-18 to 1-13 margin. Patrickswell could not bridge the gap. Another three points from Aaron Gillane were matched in kind by Na Piarsaigh. By the 55th minute, we trailed by 0-21 to 1-16. There was a glimmer of hope when Aaron Gillane reduced the deficit to a solitary point, but Na Piarsaigh slammed the door with two late points and won by 0-23 to 1-17. The next Championship fixture is on Friday August 9 at 7.00pm in Kilmallock against Doon. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Limerick GAA website.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: Patrickswell were undone by the last fifteen minutes against Castletown Ballyagran. With a stiff breeze in our favour, Patrickswell led by 0-4 to 0-3 after ten minutes (Calvin Carroll, Thomas Nolan 0-2 and Liam Fitzgerald). Conceding a goal was a minor setback to Patrickswell, who dominated the next fifteen minutes with five points (Seanie O’Brien 0-3, Gavin Carey and Calvin Carroll). By the 25th minute, the ‘Well led by 0-9 to 1-5. There was still adequate time for Calvin Carroll to produce three points to build a 0-12 to 1-7 half-time lead.

The first fifteen minutes of the second half were extremely low scoring. Calvin Carroll struck a solitary point and Castletown Ballyagran scored a goal to equalise at 0-13 to 2-7. Kieran Long’s goal in the 45th minute was vital, but our opponents raised their game and used the strong wind to blitz Patrickswell with six points in six minutes. By the 53rd minute, we were in arrears of two points at 2-13 to 1-14. Liam Fitzgerald scored two points to give Patrickswell a chance at 2-16 to 1-16 on the 60th minute, but Castletown Ballyagran went on a scoring spree that yielded a goal and four points in stoppage time. The final score wad a 3-20 to 1-17 reverse. The next match is on Sunday August 11 at 1.00pm in Adare against Rathkeale. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Limerick GAA website.

SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior Hurling Championship begins with a tough assignment against holders Na Piarsaigh on Friday August 2 at 7.30pm at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Limerick GAA website.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: Patrickswell face Castletown Ballyagran in the Championship opener on Sunday August 4 at 4pm in Staker Wallace. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Limerick GAA website.

MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell won their second match of the Championship against Blackrock away. The ‘Well dominated the opening quarter and led by 0-6 to 0-3 thanks to John Murray (0-3), Harry McDonagh, Dayle McDonagh and Ryan Foley. The remainder of the first half was extremely positive as John Murray helped himself to a goal and three points, while Eoin Hennessy and Dayle McDonagh also chipped in. The half-time score was 1-11 to 0-4.

Rory Foley’s slice of luck at the re-start yielded a goal when his long range effort bounced over the goalkeeper. By the 33rd minute, Patrickswell were thirteen points ahead at 2-12 to 0-5. To their credit, Blackrock responded with four consecutive points. There was no gallant comeback as Tom O’Brien’s boys pounded Blackrock with nine more points in eighteen minutes (John Murray 0-5, Ryan Foley 0-2, Eoin Hennessy and Harry McDonagh). The final result was a 2-21 to 0-10 victory.

MINOR HURLERS: The Minor hurlers began their Championship with a thorough victory over Southside Gaels. Dayle McDonagh scored a goal within forty seconds and Ryan Foley notched a second goal in the 9th minute. After the first quarter, Patrickswell led by 2-4 to 0-0 with the points coming from Dayle McDonagh, Ryan Foley, Paddy Gardiner and John Murray. The onslaught continued for the remainder of the first half and yielded a third goal scored by Dayle McDonagh and seven points (Dayle McDonagh 0-3, John Murray 0-3 and Paddy McGrath). The interval score was 3-11 to 0-0.

Southside Gaels emerged into the contest with two points before the 40th minute, but Patrickswell added five points from John Murray, Paddy McGrath, Leon Kinsella and Dayle McDonagh 0-2 to build a 3-16 to 0-2 lead. Another six points in ten minutes (Dayle McDonagh 0-5 and Rory Foley) increased the lead to 3-22 to 0-2. Southside Gaels scored the only point of the last ten minutes, but Patrickswell cruised to a 3-22 to 0-3 victory.

CAMOGIE: Patrickswell lost the Senior County League final to an experienced Ahane team. Our opponents scored four early points, before Sophie Carey and Emma Barry responded with a quick brace. Ahane devastated the ‘Well with two goals and three points to establish a 2-7 to 0-2 advantage on 15 minutes. Ciara Barry’s goal rallied the troops and Patrickswell dominated the rest of the first half. Two Leah O’Carroll points and other scores from Roisin O’Brien & Sarah Fitzgerald made the half-time score 2-8 to 1-6.

The first ten minutes of the second half were level pegging. Both sides exchanged three points apiece (Leah O’Carroll 0-2 and Sarah Fitzgerald). The game ended as a contest when Ahane notched another rapid goal and two points to lead by 3-13 to 1-9. Leah O’Carroll added two more points before the final whistle, but Ahane won by 3-16 to 1-11. Hard luck to the players and management.

INTER-COUNTY HURLERS: Hard luck to Cian, Aaron, Diarmaid, Jason and the Limerick hurlers after losing an epic All-Ireland semi-final to Cork. It was a magnificent achievement to win four Liam MacCarthy Cups in succession and five titles in six years.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers won the County League after a tough encounter with Tournafulla. Our opponents made a rapid start that delivered two points in the opening minute. Kieran Long settled Patrickswell nerves when he raced through the Tournafulla defence to notch a goal. Two Eoin Harmon points ensured parity of 1-2 to 0-5 after ten minutes. Over the course of the subsequent ten minutes, the teams were inseparable. Three more points from Eoin Harmon maintained the stalemate at 1-5 to 0-8. The rate of scoring dipped near the end of the first half, but Cian Gorman’s brace ensured a level half-time score of 1-7 to 0-10.

Eoin Harmon created a two-point advantage at the start of the second half, but Tournafulla edged ahead by 0-13 to 1-9 by the 40th minute. When Cian Gorman struck two points and Eoin Harmon added another, Patrickswell had crept into a 1-12 to 0-14 lead with ten minutes to play. There was all to play for as the light faded. Tournafulla added two points for a 0-16 to 1-12 advantage with five minutes remaining. This was their final score as Eoin Harmon, Shane Hannon and Cian Gorman decided the fixture with a late flourish. Patrickswell won by 1-15 to 0-16 and Nigel Foley accepted the County League trophy as captain on behalf of the club.

ALL-IRELAND HURLING SEVENS: Patrickswell reached the quarter-final of the All-Ireland Sevens, where we lost to eventual winners Craughwell 1. In the group stage, we beat Craughwell 2 and Clara but we were edged out by a solitary point against St. Thomas.

UNDER 12 HURLERS: The U-12 hurlers won their division at the Ballyragget Tournament in Kilkenny. Congratulations to the players and management.
