Lar Considine accepts the City Junior A Football Trophy
(Report Courtesy of James McCarthy, PRO):
The Junior A footballers recorded a superb victory over Na Piarsaigh in the City Final at Clarina. After just three minutes, Barry Foley converted a cool penalty to make the perfect start. The remainder of the first half was keenly contested as both sides struck four points (Lar Considine 0-4). The half-time score was 1-4 to 0-4 in Patrickswell’s favour.

The ‘Well were dominant at the beginning of the second half and added points from Seanie O’Brien (0-2), Lar Considine, David Woulfe and Diarmuid Byrnes. With fifteen minutes remaining, Patrickswell were 1-9 to 0-5 ahead and appeared comfortable. However, Na Piarsaigh dragged their way back into the match with a goal and two points. The advantage was just two points at 1-9 to 1-7.

Patrickswell remained focussed on their task and Lar Considine’s goal created breathing space. Na Piarsiagh accrued three additional points to move within a goal in injury time (2-10 to 1-10). With seconds remaining, the Caherdavin men were awarded a free-kick at close range. Patrickswell filled the goalmouth and their solid defensive barrier eventually cleared the final threat. Lar Considine accepted the City trophy on behalf of the club. The next stage is a County quarter-final. Well done to the teams and management
