Our new gymnasium was formally
opened on Wednesday night (25/4/12) during a social event at the clubhouse.
In front of a large gathering, Monsignor Michael Lane blessed the gymnasium
before joining Vice Presidents Michael Fitzgerald and Gerry Bennis for the
ribbon cutting. After the formal opening, there were inspired speeches from
Club Chairman Paul Foley, Club Vice President Gerry Bennis and Limerick
County Board Vice Chairman Oliver Mann (former chairman). The theme of the
speeches was recognition of the illustrious past and looking towards a
bright future. The newly-constructed gymnasium should facilitate the latter.
The victorious Under 13 hurling and camogie teams from 2011 were presented
with their medals by Gerry Bennis and Michael Fitzgerald. It was a great
milestone for the club last year and indicated strong foundations for the
future.
The club also took the opportunity to honour Michael Fitzgerald and Gerry
Bennis with presentations in recognition of their outstanding service to
Patrickswell. Their families were also in attendance and their wives
Christina and Nora were also presented with a bouquet of flowers in
recognition of their longstanding support. |

December 2011: Work is now complete on the new
Club Gym. This is a very important piece of infrastructure for the club in
the preparation of its teams and represents a much more cost efficient
approach to team preparation. Many thanks to all the club members who made a
contribution, especially to Michael Joyce, Pat Dundon, Tom O’Brien, Willie
Fenton and Nelius Hayes who worked on the construction and installation of
the Gym. |
