The Patrickswell GAA “Family
Night at the Dogs” held on Friday night (19/11/10) was an incredible success. There
was a huge crowd in attendance at the Dock Road Stadium with a strong
representation from Patrickswell. In addition to the greyhound races,
there was an eagerly-awaited Best Dressed Lady competition and a Senior
Hurlers’ sprint of the two-legged variety!
The Best Dressed Lady winners were Moira Mann, Suzanne Begley and Joan
Foley. The judging panel included Gemma O’Reilly (Miss Limerick 2010)
and Becky Costello (Miss Limerick 2009), while the prizes were courtesy
of Topaz Jewellery of Upper Gerald Griffin Street, Marbles Hair Salon of
Cruises Street & Castletroy and Vanity Within Beauty Salon of
The greyhound winning nominators were Christine Foley, Ciara Considine,
Eoghan Murphy, Billy Earls, Garrett Quin, Rory Foley, Katie Earls,
Neilus Hayes, Paddy Foley, Breda Mann, Brian Mann and Tony Quinn. Each
winning Nominator was presented with a specially inscribed Gold
Medallion sponsored by Christy Murphy of the Cu Chulainn Bar. John Tuohy
was the lucky winner of the Entrance Draw for a weekend away for two in
the Fitzgerald's Vienna Woods Cork. The prize was kindly sponsored by
Fitzgerald’s Woodlands Hotel in Adare.
Spot prizes were won by Olive Burke, Jack Lillis, John O’Gorman, Ann
Reidy and Rita Molyneaux. A special thanks to our esteemed guest on the
night, Liam Sheedy, former Tipperary Hurling Manager. In the Senior
Hurlers’ Sprint, Sean O’Brien was quickest out of the traps and was
followed home by Tom O’Brien, Dean Cawley, Niall Carrig, Nigel Foley &
Shane Quinlan. Let’s hope that our hurling rivals are left chasing
Sean’s shadow next season!

sponsored by Patrickswell GAA), Colourful Champ, Nicken Shaw, Huckabee’s
Kid and Beaming Dilemma.
The club would like to express its appreciation to everyone who
supported the event – ticket purchasers, greyhound nominators,
advertisers, judges and special guests. Great credit is also due to the
Organising Committee who produced a great evening of racing and fun.
