Carlow Town Hurling Club All-Ireland Tournament

On Saturday June 26th, our Under 16 hurlers took part in the Carlow Town Hurling Club All-Ireland hurling tournament. Patrickswell were drawn in probably the toughest group of the competition, along with Dicksborough (Kilkenny), Blackrock (Cork), Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) and Craughwell (Galway).

The lads got off to a good start, beating Craughwell in their first game. In their second game against Dicksborough, having been 8 points down at half time, the lads played their best hurling so far this year to get themselves back into contention. At the final whistle, a very strong Dicksborough team finished one point ahead, but the performance of our lads in this game gave great hope for the rest of the season. The very hot day and hard ground took its toll on our small panel of just 18 players and we were unlucky in the final two group games. Thanks to all the parents, family and supporters who made the journey to Carlow and helped with lifts. Your help is always very much appreciated. Thanks also to the lads who helped with umpiring and hurleys.
